Con Cuong organizes field workshop on hybrid rice variety SYN 6

(Baonghean) -Recently, the Agricultural Extension Center of Con Cuong district (Nghe An) cooperated with Sin Genta Company Limited and Bac Giang Agricultural Joint Stock Company to conduct a trial planting of Syn 6 hybrid rice on an area of ​​0.5 hectares in Ban Pha field, Yen Khe commune.

After 120 days from planting to harvest, Syn 6 hybrid rice has had quite satisfactory results. Field surveys show that Syn 6 hybrid rice has a strong root system, good lodging resistance, and high resistance to pests and diseases. Although farmers plant up to 54 clumps/m²but there are 6 flowers/clump; there are 160 seeds/flower, expected yield is 110-120 tons/ha.

According to calculation, investing 1 sao (1,000m²) cost 1,281,200 VND, expected yield of 700 kg/sao will give profit of 5,368,800 VND (not including labor). In particular, Syn 6 hybrid rice has delicious quality, soft sticky rice, can be planted on highland and deep lowland, suitable for mountainous climate.

At the workshop, many opinions agreed to deploy production on a large scale, and hoped that the State would support seed prices to help people carry out production in the summer-autumn crop and the next crop.
