(Baonghean) -Quyet Tien village, Chi Khe commune is a traditional vegetable production area and serves the clean vegetable production project according to VietGAP standards of Con Cuong district. Currently, more than 70% of households in the village participate in production on an area of 7 hectares, making it the largest vegetable growing area in the district.
Con Cuong’s most cultivated land is forest land, industrial crops, fruit trees, etc., so most of the vegetables serving the daily needs of the people are imported from the lowland districts. The establishment of a specialized vegetable growing area has met part of the market demand and contributed to improving the lives of vegetable growers.
Mr. Tran Huy Chuong, head of Quyet Tien village, said: “After the storm, people in Quyet Tien village are urgently growing vegetables and safe vegetables of all kinds. Although they have to race to catch up with the season, farmers still meet the “Safe agricultural production process according to standards”. Ms. Pham Thi Dung, a vegetable garden owner in Quyet Tien village, said: “Our family currently has 3 sao of land growing vegetables such as kohlrabi, cabbage, and green beans. All are grown and cared for according to the clean vegetable production process that the district agricultural extension officers have instructed”.
Safe vegetable production model of Ms. Tran Thi Hue's family in Quyet Tien village (Chi Khe, Con Cuong).
Currently, in Quyet Tien village, there are some families growing vegetables with high economic efficiency and rotating 3 crops a year, bringing in tens of millions of dong in income on 1 sao of land, such as the families of Mr. Trinh Xuan Tao, Mr. Hoang Van Hoa, Ms. Tran Thi Hue, Ms. Pham Thi Dung. That shows the prospect and effectiveness of building a safe vegetable production model that Con Cuong district has proposed and is continuing to expand.
In Tuong Duong district, this winter crop, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh, Hoa Nam block, Hoa Binh town (Tuong Duong) planted more than one sao of tomatoes. Currently, her family continues to cultivate the land to grow vegetables, beans, and spices to meet market demand.
Despite the mountainous terrain, farmers in Tuong Duong district still take advantage of good, flat land such as Chan village, Thach Giam commune; Hoa Nam block, Hoa Binh town; some remote communes such as Yen Na, Yen Hoa... to grow vegetables. Vegetables are considered the main source of income for people in these areas. What is special is that green vegetables in Tuong Duong do not use any toxic chemicals during production, so consumers can rest assured.
This winter crop, Tuong Duong district produced 300 hectares of various vegetables and beans. The district's Department of Agriculture has directed people in communes and towns to actively prepare the land for timely production. Due to the heavy rain this year, the vegetable planting progress is slower than in previous years, and the early vegetable crops have begun to be harvested. At the same time, the district directed the Agricultural Extension Station to strengthen monitoring and tracking of pests on vegetables to take preventive measures. Vegetable growers in Tuong Duong use fertilizers such as green manure mixed with lime, composted manure, etc. to fertilize, which both prevent pests and are non-toxic, so they are very safe for consumers' health. As a mountainous district, market demand requires many types of vegetables, so vegetable growers do not have to worry about product output. Tuong Duong's winter vegetable crops this year are mainly mustard greens, green beans, and spices, including some experimental models of growing large-fruited tomatoes.
With the motto of producing "clean vegetables", vegetable growers in Tuong Duong, besides paying attention to economic purposes, also pay great attention to the health of consumers.
