Daughter fakes email to scam money from father's customers
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh and his wife Ha Thi Phuong (living in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) are successful businessmen thanks to import-export shipments with foreign partners, bringing them high profits.
Thuy is the eldest daughter of the couple, followed by a handsome son who has just finished third grade. Both children are good students, especially Thuy, who has impressive academic results with 9 consecutive years of being an excellent student at a prestigious school in the city. Although the couple has no shortage of money, the couple always saves and never gives their children too much money to spend. This also means that their two children do not know how to compete and spend money wastefully. Therefore, the couple always trusts their two children and almost does not worry about their living conditions.
Everything began to change when Thuy entered the tenth grade after a stressful exam. With the great rewards her parents had given her up to now such as: freedom to go on a trip to Da Lat with her friends, a brand new Iphone 6, a latest laptop, enough money to take her friends out...
At the age of falling in love and enjoying the first freedom with all the means and material things, Thuy felt like she was released from her cage and flew high. The once good girl of her parents now felt the need for a change because the fun life of her friends was almost magically attracting her. Right in the first semester of 10th grade, she no longer focused on studying but often went on Facebook, then emailed to make friends, occasionally took advantage of the weekend to hang out at luxury cafes, enjoy hip hop music, go to bars on the weekend,...

Thuy also began to lose her honesty, instead she covered up with a cover of being obedient, studious, always having group study sessions, exchanging lessons, etc. so that her parents would not have any suspicion about her. However, with her parents' strictness about money, it was difficult for her to have the money to spend as she wished.
At first, Thuy thought of ways such as taking extra classes, buying books, documents online or other expenses to get money from her parents, but gradually those amounts were not enough to cover Thuy's increasingly large and frequent parties. In addition, Thuy also worried about her friends, especially her boyfriend who was one grade above her and was also the "heartthrob" of the group (as teenagers call him).
With her intelligence and taking advantage of her parents' trust, Thuy began to think of ways to find a large source of money for herself. Knowing her father's email password, knowing her parents' schedule and business, knowing her close friends who had a lot of money and did business with her parents, Thuy immediately thought of hacking into the email and impersonating an adult to borrow money.
In early June 2016, while her parents were abroad for a week on business, Thuy immediately discussed with the "handsome guy" to create a bank account and fake her father's email, sending it to an uncle whom Thuy knew would transfer money as soon as her parents asked. After that, the two sent an email with the content: "This account belongs to your customer, you just transfer it directly to the customer and they will confirm that you received the goods here."
Less than 30 minutes after receiving the email, Uncle Tung (Thuy's parents' friend) transferred 500 million VND to the account that Thuy and her "boyfriend" had just opened without any suspicion. Thuy and her boyfriend were extremely happy to go to the bank to get the money and immediately the kids continued to plan to have fun, while their parents abroad had no idea!
After the business trip, Mr. Thanh and Ms. Phuong still did not know anything. Their beloved daughter reported everything about their family and their children's education in full and good terms, even Thuy reported in detail about her younger brother's education. So they felt secure and continued to focus on their work.
Perhaps the matter would not have been discovered early if Uncle Tung had not come from the North to visit and then come to the house to pay the debt. Uncle Tung was sure that he would transfer money to his brother and sister and deduct it from the money for the goods as usual. When the two sides checked the money to close the book, they realized that the 500 million VND had not been transferred to anyone. Mr. Thanh and Ms. Phuong said they did not know because when they opened the email, they did not see anything written (because Thuy deleted the message), while Uncle Tung's email had written it, and the transfer account number was still there.
At first, both sides suspected that it was a hacker, but thinking back, it was unlikely because no one knew the schedule and business practices of both sides. Finally, everyone went to the bank to ask and invited the police to testify. After knowing the name of the account holder, everyone went to find out that it was the "handsome guy's" house, and everything after that was completely clear.
When her parents found out, Thuy was extremely remorseful and thought about going crazy, but Ms. Phuong promptly calmed her daughter down, forgave her for her youthful mistakes, and only made the "handsome guy" and the children promise to focus on their studies.
