(Baonghean.vn) -These days, Vietnamese people from all over the country in the North return to Hoang Tru and Lang Sen with the most sincere hearts towards the beloved Father of the nation...

National Highway 46 runs from Vinh toMaleFor nearly a week now, the area has been ablaze with flags, flowers, banners and slogans. We followed the veterans of the 27th Regiment on a pilgrimage to Uncle Ho’s hometown. This is the final destination in the journey back to the old battlefield of the Veterans Group to celebrate the 37th anniversary of the liberation of the South, the reunification of the country and the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Tri province. Before that, the Group had spent 2 days returning to Vinh Linh to revisit the Vinh Moc – Cua Tung tunnels, the 21st peak in Gio My and attended the liberation anniversary with 500 veterans from all over the country.

This last stop at Uncle Ho's hometown is extremely meaningful. Colonel, veteran Nguyen Duc Tuan (Block 17, Ha Huy Tap Ward) was moved: After a long journey, we all agreed that the end point of this journey must be Uncle Ho's hometown. Gathering here, in addition to the sincere wish to offer incense and flowers to his altar, we also want to report to Uncle Ho the achievements of the veterans of Regiment 27 over the past years, a very heroic regiment with many achievements in the resistance war against America to save the country.

On April 30, more than 300 delegations visited Uncle Ho's paternal and maternal hometowns.

Veterans of Regiment 27 offer incense and flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh

It is easy to see the sincerity of the veterans when standing next to Uncle Ho's altar, next to the thatched roof house, listening to the narrator of the Kim Lien Relic Site recounting the short time Uncle Ho spent visiting his hometown. In that sweet memory, veteran Nguyen Sy Thi (Trung Tien Block, Hung Dung Ward) had the opportunity to remember the only time he met Uncle Ho when he just landed at Vinh airport during his second visit to his hometown in 1961: "At that time, I was very young, when I heard that Uncle Ho was visiting his hometown, everyone in Hung Dung commune rushed out, jostling and standing for hours at the airport waiting for news of Uncle Ho. From afar, I saw Uncle getting off the plane, his face was very emotional, his hand raised high and waving to everyone".

These vivid images are also clearly depicted through the photo exhibition “Ho Chi Minh and lifelong learning”, a traveling exhibition right at Uncle Ho’s Memorial House in his hometown, attracting a large number of visitors on this occasion. The exhibition not only depicts his activities during his journey of more than 50 years as the country’s leader, but also attracts viewers with valuable documents, newly published in Vietnam, including the letter he sent to the French president, expressing his wish to study at a colonial school in Paris (1911) when he was in exile in France, or the handwriting still intact in the ink of the letter Uncle sent to all teachers, students, cadres, teenagers and children of Nguyen Ai Quoc school in 1955.

Reading Uncle Ho's teachings to her child and carefully using a camera to capture those words, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Cau Giay District, Hanoi) shared: Every day I still teach my child according to "5 things Uncle Ho taught", when he was older he learned about Uncle Ho through many stories told by his grandparents. This trip to visit Uncle Ho's hometown is an opportunity for my child to have the most authentic view of Uncle Ho's portrait and I want my child to learn from Uncle Ho through those simple things.

Returning to Uncle Ho's hometown, returning to the simple thatched roof, returning to the hammock that lulled Uncle Ho in his childhood, to the loom where Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan often sat weaving... it is hard to imagine that a world cultural celebrity, a great leader, the father of the Vietnamese people had such a simple and ordinary childhood. Even more touching, this is the home of a Vice-Minister who did many things to help the people and the country.
