Son-in-law stabbed father-in-law to death, wife and mother-in-law seriously injured
While Phuong and his wife were fighting, Mr. Hai and his wife (Phuong's parents-in-law) tried to intervene and were stabbed repeatedly by Phuong, causing Mr. Hai to die on the way to the emergency room, and Phuong's wife and mother-in-law to be seriously injured.
The family held a funeral for the unfortunate victim.
The incident occurred at around 8:00 p.m. on February 19 (the 4th day of Tet). According to initial information, at the above time, Nguyen Van Phuong (born in 1986), residing in Yen Loi commune, district of Y Yen, Nam Dinh province, rode a motorbike to the house of his wife's parents, Mr. Le Xuan Hai (60 years old), residing in Yen Trung commune, district of Y Yen, Nam Dinh province (about 5km away) to talk to his wife.
While talking, a conflict and fight broke out between the couple. At that time, seeing Phuong holding a knife, Mr. Hai and his wife ran in to stop him and were stabbed repeatedly by Phuong, causing Mr. Hai to die on the way to the emergency room. Phuong's wife, Le Thi Thien, and his mother-in-law, Nguyen Thi Quy, were seriously injured and had to be taken to the Ha Nam General Hospital.
Speaking to reporters over the phone, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Trung Commune, Y Yen District, also confirmed the above incident. Mr. Son added that during the incident, a neighbor intervened and was also attacked by the subject with a knife, but fortunately avoided it. After committing the crime, the subject was surrounded and captured by the surrounding people and handed over to the police.
According to the authorities, at the time of the crime, Phuong was under the influence of alcohol and had a previous conflict with his wife.
Nam Dinh Provincial Police have arrested Phuong to investigate the murder.
