Thanh Chuong District Police seized 44 barrels of smuggled oil.
(Baonghean) -At 7:45 a.m. on December 7, 2011, at Khe Cam area, National Highway 46, the road to Thanh Thuy-Thanh Chuong-Nghe An border gate, the economic and drug crime prevention force of Thanh Chuong District Police caught 3 trucks illegally transporting 44 barrels of diesel oil.
Of which, car with license plate 37H-8995 driven by Mr. Vo Van Khanh, residing in Phu Thanh commune, Yen Thanh, Nghe An, carried 20 barrels of diesel oil; truck with license plate 37N-3559 driven by Mr. Trinh Van Thien, residing in block 4, Thanh Chuong town, carried 12 barrels of diesel oil; and truck with license plate 37N-5676 driven by Mr. Hoang Van Chau, residing in block 4, Thanh Chuong town, carried 12 barrels of diesel oil.
The smuggled oil is being held at Thanh Chuong District Police.
To avoid detection by the police, the drivers of the three cars carried many bags of cement to cover the oil drums. During the investigation, the subjects confessed to transporting the oil to Laos to sell to forest exploiters.
It is known that the situation of transporting smuggled gasoline and oil across the border area is quite complicated and has been going on for a long time, however, it is not understood how trucks carrying smuggled goods can still easily pass through the border gate area without encountering any inspection from the authorities at Thanh Thuy border gate. A question is raised whether there is lax management here? Currently, Thanh Chuong District Police are temporarily holding the above 44 barrels of oil, consolidating records and handling the subjects transporting smuggled goods.
