Nghe An Police: Dismantling a transnational synthetic drug trafficking ring

(Baonghean.vn) -By using massage girls to transport drugs by rail to avoid detection by the authorities, a drug trafficking ring from abroad to Nghe An and then transporting them to the southern provinces for consumption has successfully carried out many shipments of white goods. However, the actions and tricks of the subjects in this ring were stopped by the CANA Drug Investigation Police.

In mid-January 2013, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Police discovered a ring transporting synthetic drugs from abroad into Nghe An led by Tran Quoc Viet, born in 1982, residing in Son Kim 2, Huong Son District, Ha Tinh. The ring operated in a sophisticated and closed manner. On average, they organized two times a week to transport drugs from the Ha Tinh border to Nghe An and then brought them to the south for consumption. To avoid detection by the police, Tran Quoc Viet used massage girls to transport drugs by train.

The Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Police has established a 313V project to fight and eradicate it. After correctly identifying the subjects of this ring who were preparing to transport a quantity of drugs to the South, the project team decided to crack the case. At 11:45 p.m. on April 23, 2013, on Tran Phu Street, Le Mao Ward (Vinh City), the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Police coordinated with the Cau Treo Border Guard Station, the Cau Treo Customs Sub-Department of Ha Tinh, the Technical Department of Nghe An Police and the Department of Professional Affairs of the Ministry of Public Security to arrest Ho Quoc Nam, born in 1985, in Hamlet 14, Nghi Kim, Vinh City, Nghe An and Doan Thi Bich Kieu (born in 1987), in Vinh Tuong Commune, Vi Thuy District, Hau Giang Province, while illegally transporting 1kg of crystal meth.

Conducting an urgent search of the residence of the subject Nam, the investigation force seized 30 packages of shisha drugs, 1 set of drug-using table lamps and 100 million VND related to the subject's criminal acts. Doan Thi Bich Kieu from Hau Giang came to Vinh City to work as a massage therapist and was the lover of Tran Quoc Viet, who was used by Viet to transport drugs to the South.

Continuing to expand the case, in the early morning of April 27, the police arrested Ngo Tri Giang (born 1990), residing in hamlet 12, Nghi My commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An, a cousin of Ho Quoc Nam's wife. Searching Giang's house, they seized another 1kg of crystal meth.

The subjects involved in the transnational drug trafficking ring were arrested, but the leader Tran Quoc Viet, due to his very sophisticated and cunning methods, each time he delivered the drugs, he did not go to Vietnam but to Laos, making it difficult for the police to arrest him. In addition, Viet never directly transported the drugs and hired other subjects to transport them from the Ha Tinh border to Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh). Before the Nghe An Police Department PC47 established the project, the Ha Tinh Border Guard also focused on fighting Tran Quoc Viet, made several surprise inspections and conducted investigations but had no results.

Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thiem, Head of the Drug Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Police, said: Tran Quoc Viet's cunning also surprised the detectives when they searched his house in Lacxao (Bolykhamxay, Laos). Around the house, Viet installed a dense camera system, even at the turn to enter the house there was a surveillance camera. All images from the cameras were transmitted to the TV screen in the bedroom of Viet and his mistress. In the house, there was a room for "smoking" and dancing. Searching here, the police force seized a gun and many types of bullets.

Currently, the police force is continuing to expand the investigation, arresting the remaining subjects to destroy this large-scale synthetic drug trafficking ring.
