Nghe An police fined 3 cases of posting false information on social networks
Nghe An Provincial Police summoned and punished 3 cases of posting false information about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an extremely great loss for our entire Party, army and people. While the people, overseas Vietnamese at home and abroad and international friends express their sincere respect, infinite sorrow, and remember the great contributions and merits of the General Secretary to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the country, some individuals have posted images and information that are untrue, distorted, defamatory and insulting to the reputation of the comrade personally and the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Faced with that situation, Nghe An Police directed the Police of units and localities to strengthen the grasp, review, and verification of cases of posting and disseminating false information about the General Secretary.
Through the investigation, the provincial police discovered and summoned 3 cases for verification and investigation. The individuals who posted false information include: V.D.T. (born in 1988, from Quynh Yen commune, Quynh Luu district); PVN (born in 1984, from Thanh Khe commune, Thanh Chuong district) and BTT (born in 1981, from Ma Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district).

Specifically, on the afternoon of July 25, after coming home from drinking, PVN posted an article on his personal Facebook page with fabricated, distorted, defamatory, insulting content, denying the great contributions of the General Secretary, attacking and discrediting the leaders of the Party and State. At the police station, N. confessed to his illegal acts and removed the article on his personal page. Thanh Chuong District Police issued a decision to fine PVN VND5 million.
Previously, Quynh Luu District Police summoned and worked with V.D.T. about taking advantage of the General Secretary's death to post an article that was untrue, distorted, defamed, and insulted the reputation of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The police agency decided to fine V.D.T. 7.5 million VND.
On July 24, the Internal Political Security Department also coordinated with Yen Thanh District Police to summon BTT for questioning. At the police station, BTT admitted to posting a photo collage believed to be of the General Secretary with the content: "Image of the last breath at Military Hospital 108...". T. posted the article with the aim of increasing interaction for his account.

The subjects' actions violated Point a, Clause 1, Article 101, Decree 15/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations in the fields of post and telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions. After working with the police, the subjects removed the post and pledged not to post or share images or articles with false information that affect security and order, and cause negative public opinion.
In recent days, taking advantage of the General Secretary's passing, hostile forces and political opportunists have edited images and posted articles with distorted and incorrect arguments to discredit the Party and State leaders; defame, incite and divide the great national unity bloc. Nghe An police continue to strengthen the review and strictly handle subjects posting false information. The police agency recommends that every citizen be vigilant against sabotage plots, prevent and not spread bad and toxic information on cyberspace.
