Vinh City Police strengthen solutions to ensure traffic safety during the Lunar New Year
(Baonghean) - To ensure traffic safety and order before, during and after the Lunar New Year, Vinh City Police have developed and implemented a plan to ensure traffic safety.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Duy Ha - Head of the Traffic Police Team of Vinh City Police said: With the goal of reducing 15-20% of traffic accidents compared to the same period, especially before, during and after Tet, the unit has increased patrols, controls, and resolutely handled violations with high risk of causing traffic accidents such as: Speeding, weaving, not wearing helmets when riding motorbikes; running red lights, driving while drinking alcohol, beer with blood alcohol concentration exceeding the permitted level... Coordinate with traffic management units, wards and communes, inspect and strictly handle encroachment on roads and sidewalks for trading, market holding, and parking in the wrong place causing traffic obstruction. In addition, continue to promote propaganda and dissemination of laws on traffic safety and order, focusing on road traffic rules to further raise people's awareness of voluntary compliance.
Strengthening detection and punishment of cases of teenagers weaving and not wearing helmets
Passenger vans that pick up and drop off passengers in violation of regulations like this will be severely punished.
The unit organizes armed patrols on key routes and areas, in conjunction with disguised patrols and ambushes to prevent young people from weaving, swerving, and illegally racing... At the same time, it will step up crime prevention, arrest robbers, pickpockets, touts, and those who take advantage of smuggling, transporting fireworks, and explosives. At spring flower sales points, public entertainment venues, train stations, and bus stations, the police force will coordinate with functional agencies to maintain order, detect, and strictly handle the situation of overcrowding passengers, vehicles driving in circles, and stopping to pick up and drop off passengers in violation of regulations.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Duy Ha added: The biggest difficulty for the city's traffic police force at present is the thin force, while during the Tet holidays, with the increasing number of people and vehicles participating in traffic, just one accident or traffic collision can cause congestion, especially at entertainment and shopping places, ... Therefore, to ensure traffic safety and order during the Tet holiday, first of all, it is necessary to have the awareness of compliance of the traffic participants themselves, at the same time, the traffic police force also needs the active support of the traffic inspection force, urban order of the wards, communes ... to join hands to ensure traffic safety so that the city's people can enjoy spring and celebrate Tet peacefully.
