The report fully reflects biodiversity resources according to main components: typical ecosystems, endangered and rare species prioritized for protection, and genetic diversity.
In addition, for each biodiversity resource component, the Report has compared with 2005 to clearly see the picture of the rapid decline of biodiversity resources over the years; Pointing out the main causes of biodiversity resource decline: illegal and excessive exploitation of biological resources such as wood, wildlife, fishing by unsustainable methods; conversion of land and water use purposes without scientific basis; introduction of new breeds and alien species; environmental pollution and climate change.
In particular, the report clearly pointed out the trend of biodiversity fluctuations such as increased forest cover due to the development of planted forest areas, the number of individuals of rare and endangered species decreased, and seafood productivity continuously decreased...
Accordingly, the orientation of biological conservation in the next 5 years is specified, focusing on building and implementing the National Strategy on Biodiversity to 2020, and the overall plan for biodiversity conservation of the whole country. Currently, these Strategies and Plans are being built.
With highly reliable information, the Report will be a handbook to support central and local agencies in the process of planning, planning and biodiversity conservation programs; at the same time, it will be a reference document for scientific research, training and community service.
