Mr Razak said investigators now had a "clear picture" of what caused the disaster. "We are not pointing fingers yet, but we are pretty close to naming those responsible for the crash," the politician said.

Prime Minister Razak said the investigation would continue “at least until the end of 2015”. He explained that investigators intended to look into all possible circumstances and details of the incident.

Mr Razak pointed out that “the purpose of the criminal investigation is to bring those responsible to justice”. He said all mechanisms of the legal process “will be considered”.

"I will do everything possible to find the culprits," Prime Minister Razak said, adding that investigators would also ensure the prosecution of those responsible for the "unforgivable incident".

Mr. Razak said the research team, including experts from the Netherlands, Malaysia, Ukraine, the United States and Russia, led by the Dutch Security Council (DSB), will present its final report on the plane crash in October.
