Announcing minimum textbooks for primary school students

August 10, 2013 16:07

In the 2013-2014 school year, students in grades 1, 2 and 3 used a minimum of 6 books, while students in grades 4 and 5 used 9 books.

Minimum books for students in grades 1, 2 and 3 are: Vietnamese (volumes 1, 2), writing notebooks (volumes 1, 2), Math, Natural Science and Social Science.

For students in grades 4 and 5, the minimum books include: Vietnamese (volumes 1 and 2), Math, Ethics, Science, History and Geography, Music, Fine Arts, and Engineering.

The Ministry of Education and Training requires primary schools to build shared bookcases to ensure that all students have textbooks to study from the beginning of the new school year.

Teachers need to guide students in using books and notebooks every day so that they do not have to carry many books and notebooks to school; and effectively use books and materials from the school library. Where possible, students should be allowed to keep books and notebooks and learning materials in the classroom.

For the Departments of Education and Training, the Ministry requires mobilizing funding sources to provide textbooks, without collecting fees from students in especially difficult areas, students who are children of martyrs and war invalids.
