Announcing medal awards at SEA Games 27

According to the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, each athlete who wins a gold medal will receive a bonus of 6 million VND, a silver medal 4 million VND, and a bronze medal 2 million VND.

In order to encourage athletes before the SEA Games, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training has just announced the bonus levels for achievements in the regional arena. Accordingly, immediately after athletes win medals, they will be rewarded "hotly" depending on their achievements: 6 million VND for gold medals, 4 million VND for silver medals and 2 million VND for bronze medals.

In addition, athletes who win gold, silver and bronze medals at the SEA Games will be awarded 45, 25 and 20 million VND/medal respectively. Athletes who break SEA Games records will be awarded an additional 15 million VND.

Thus, a Vietnamese athlete participating in the SEA Games, if he wins a gold medal, will receive a minimum of 51 million VND in prize money. Not to mention, if he breaks the SEA Games record, he will receive an additional 15 million VND. This is the same prize level as in the 26th SEA Games 2 years ago.

“In fact, in the current economic conditions of Vietnam, the Government’s efforts to maintain the bonus level compared to the 26th SEA Games is also a great effort. The remaining issue is the concern of the whole society because only then will the athletes be truly rewarded properly and stably,” said Mr. Lam Quang Thanh, head of the Vietnamese delegation at the 27th SEA Games.

The goal of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 27th SEA Games is to win 70 gold medals and be among the top 3 leading countries. According to the plan, the Vietnamese sports delegation will be divided into 3 main groups, leaving for Myanmar on December 4, 7 and 14./.
