At the ceremony, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee presented the Politburo's Decision on assigning Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council to take charge of the Central Theoretical Council during the time Comrade Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, is on leave for medical treatment.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh said: Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang is a basically trained cadre, a professor and doctor of political economy; having held many different positions such as: Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics; Director of the Institute of Northeast Asian Studies; Vice President and then President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council... He is a member of the Party Central Committee, term XI, XII. At the recent 6th Central Executive Committee meeting, term XII, he was elected to the Party Central Committee Secretariat.

During his work, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang always tried his best, completed assigned tasks excellently, and received the trust and support of comrades and colleagues in the agency and unit where he worked.

The Central Theoretical Council is an advisory body to the Central Executive Committee, directly and regularly the Politburo and the Secretariat, on issues of political theory, Marxism-Leninism, and Ho Chi Minh thought to serve the Party's leadership; to orient, plan, and develop the Party's guidelines and policies, and to prepare documents for the National Party Congress.
