The Ministry of Health has announced and presented the Decision assigning the Nghe An Oncology Hospital the role of the highest-level technical and professional hospital in medical examination and treatment in the North Central region.

The Nghe An Oncology Hospital was established on August 27, 2010, according to Decision No. 3826/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, in the context of cancer becoming a major concern in Nghe An.
Nghe An Oncology HospitalWhen it was first established, it had only 50 staff members and 50 planned beds, with cramped infrastructure. Through hard work, after 14 years, Nghe An Oncology Hospital has made remarkable progress in both scale and professional expertise.
Along with a team of well-trained doctors and medical staff, the hospital has invested in the most modern equipment in the North Central region, such as: SPECT/CT system, 3D mammography, immunohistochemistry system, 64-128 slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI system, Maxio robot, endoscopic ultrasound system, fully automated testing system, Precise radiotherapy system and Synergy Platform.
Currently, Nghe An Oncology Hospital has successfully implemented advanced and specialized techniques such as robot-guided lung biopsy, advanced interventional radiology techniques, immunohistochemical staining and tumor gene sequencing, and the application of targeted therapy and immunotherapy in cancer treatment.
On average, the hospital receives and treats about 1,000 patients each day, not only from Nghe An province but also from neighboring provinces such as Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Thanh Hoa, etc.
Currently, the hospital is rushing to complete the construction of the Nghe An Oncology Hospital (phase 2) with a total floor area of 75,000 m².2The main building, with a capacity of 1,400 beds, has a total investment of 1,259 billion VND.
At the Conference on Orienting the Development of Specialized Healthcare in Vinh City, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc presented Decision No. 2223/QD-BYT dated July 29, 2024, assigning the task of being the highest-level technical and professional medical examination and treatment center in the North Central region to Nghe An Oncology Hospital. Nghe An Oncology Hospital becomes the second hospital in Nghe An, after Nghe An Friendship General Hospital, to achieve this criterion.
According to the decision, based on its assessed scope of expertise as a tertiary hospital, Nghe An Oncology Hospital is responsible for training, transferring, coordinating, and providing technical and professional support to medical facilities in the region, and for carrying out tasks and directives assigned by the Ministry of Health.
The establishment of Nghe An Oncology Hospital as the highest-level specialized medical facility in the North Central region will contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment; helping people in the region to receive effective diagnosis, detection, and treatment of cancer... marking a new step in the roadmap to building Nghe An into a specialized medical center of the region in accordance with Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023, of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
