Vietnamese community in the US welcomes the Year of the Horse

On the evening of January 18 (local time), the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations and the Vietnamese Consulate in New York, USA celebrated the Year of the Horse with representatives of people in the Northeast region of the United States.

Attending the party were officials from the Vietnamese Mission to the United Nations, the Vietnamese Consulate, representative offices of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Vietnam Television, the Trade Promotion Center in New York, along with more than 200 overseas Vietnamese, foreign diplomats at the United Nations and international friends who love Vietnam.

In his New Year speech, Ambassador, Head of the Delegation to the United Nations Le Hoai Trung, on behalf of the Vietnamese representative agencies in New York, informed overseas Vietnamese and international friends about the achievements that the Vietnamese people have achieved in the past year in the fields of socio-economic development, foreign affairs, and security and defense.

Referring to the role and tasks of Vietnamese representative agencies, Ambassador Le Hoai Trung emphasized: “2013 was a busy year, but full of joy for the Vietnamese Delegation and representative agencies in New York. We have made important contributions, recognized in multilateral diplomatic activities; gained the sympathy and broad support of international friends at the United Nations and forums in New York. In particular, the Delegation effectively contributed to Vietnam being elected with the highest number of votes to the United Nations Human Rights Council at the end of last year.”

On this occasion, the Ambassador also thanked and appreciated the cooperation, assistance and sincere and warm feelings of the Vietnamese community, American organizations and individuals as well as colleagues at the United Nations for the country and people of Vietnam in general and the Vietnamese representative agencies in New York in particular in the past time; at the same time, he hoped that in each of their positions and positions, overseas Vietnamese and international friends would continue to give Vietnam their valuable affection, support and assistance in the coming time./.
