Processing and manufacturing industry reduces inventory

According to the General Statistics Office, the processing and manufacturing industry has had a gradually increasing consumption index since the beginning of the year, and a gradually decreasing inventory index.

Accordingly, the consumption index of the processing and manufacturing industry in the first quarter of 2013 increased by 4%; 6 months increased by 8.3%; 7 months increased by 9.2%; inventory index at April 1, 2013 increased by 13.1%, at July 1 increased by 8.8% and at August 1 increased by 9%.

The latest report of the General Statistics Office on the industrial production situation shows that the production index of the whole industry in August 2013 is estimated to increase by 4.4% compared to the same period in 2012. In the first 8 months, this index is estimated to increase by 5.3% compared to the same period last year.

Of which, the mining industry (accounting for 21.3% of the total industrial value added) increased by 0.3%; the processing and manufacturing industry (accounting for 70.9%) increased by 6.5%; electricity production and distribution (accounting for 6.7%) increased by 8.4%; water supply, wastewater and waste treatment (accounting for 1.1%) increased by 9.3%.

Some industries with high growth rates in the first 8 months compared to the same period were: Production of prefabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment) increased by 12.9%; production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 10.7%; production of paper and paper products increased by 10.4%; exploitation, treatment and supply of water increased by 9.9%; production of beverages increased by 9.5%.

Some industries had low growth or decreased, including: Electrical equipment production increased by 6.9%; food production and processing increased by 4.2%; metal production decreased by 1.9%; hard coal and lignite mining decreased by 3.4%; bed, wardrobe, table and chair production decreased by 6.2%; other mining decreased by 6.4%...

Industrial production index in the first 8 months of this year compared to the same period last year of some localities is as follows: Ho Chi Minh City increased by 5.5%, Dong Nai increased by 7.3%, Binh Duong increased by 8%, Hanoi increased by 4.3%, Hai Phong increased by 4.9%, Bac Ninh increased by 3.7%, Vinh Phuc increased by 20.3%...

Consumption increased by 9.2%

The consumption index of the entire processing and manufacturing industry in the first 7 months of 2013 increased by 9.2% compared to the same period last year. The industries with high consumption index growth were: motor vehicle production increased by 33.4%; leather and related products production increased by 30.5%; electrical equipment production increased by 23.4%... Some industries with low consumption index growth in the first 7 months included: Tobacco production increased by 6%; paper and paper products production increased by 5.4%; chemical and chemical products production increased by 4.6%...

In the processing and manufacturing industry, the sectors with high inventory rates in 7 months are: Chemical and chemical product production 112.9%; motor vehicle production 111.1%; bed, wardrobe, table and chair production 101%; food production and processing 91.5%.

The labor utilization index of enterprises as of August 1 increased by 2.6% compared to the same period last year. However, the state-owned enterprise sector decreased by 1%, the non-state enterprise sector decreased by 0.1% and the foreign-invested sector increased by 5.6%.
