During its existence for hundreds of years, through time, natural disasters and fierce wars, the Dang Cao Temple has been degraded and restored many times. But until now, the relic still retains its ancient architecture. Notably, the gate has a unique architecture, a harmonious combination of Eastern and Western architecture, and is ranked as the most beautiful in the current system of Nghe An relics.
On the rafters and beams of the lower and middle halls are carved images of clouds, flowers and leaves, and the painting themes of the "four sacred animals", "four seasons", or dragons on the main pillars, crossbeams, vertical beams, calf necks, and door panels with harmonious and vivid colors.
In addition, the relic also preserves many antiques that are both beautifully decorated and elaborately carved such as altars, incense burners, and have historical value such as royal decrees and Buddha insignia. These antiques, which are evidence of a past historical period of the nation, reflect the aesthetic level, creativity, and craftsmanship of artisans as well as the architectural style of the Nguyen Dynasty.
The Dang Cao Palace relic in Thanh Van commune was recognized as a provincial-level historical - architectural and artistic relic by the People's Committee of Nghe An province under Decision No. 5165/QD-UBND dated November 7, 2013.
