As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, on the morning of April 18, at the Vietnam Wood World Company (Nam Cam Industrial Park, Nghi Loc District), a boiler explosion occurred, injuring 11 workers, of whom 2 were in critical condition and were transferred to the National Institute of Burns (Hanoi) for treatment.

The gates to the factory where the explosion occurred are being sealed off.

Vietnam Wood World Joint Stock Company was granted an investment license in January 2015, and officially started operating in Zone C (Nam Cam Industrial Park) from December 2015 in the field of plywood, veneer, plywood and thin board production.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Nguyet - Vice President of the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union: Since its inception, the company has not fully implemented a number of contents related to the Labor Law such as signing labor contracts and paying social insurance for employees.

None of the 11 workers injured in the boiler explosion on the morning of April 18 have signed a labor contract or participated in social insurance. According to the provincial Social Insurance, up to now, The Gioi Go Company has only paid insurance for one worker, Mr. Duong Truong Son (electrician) since October 2015.

Vietnamese and Indian workers handle the scene

Before the boiler explosion occurred, on March 14, 2016, 170 workers of this company gathered in front of the company gate to request the management to resolve issues related to labor rights. In that situation, the Company had to organize a dialogue with the workers to resolve the problem with the participation of representatives of the Trade Union of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board.

In the minutes of the dialogue at 1:30 p.m. on March 13, 2016, Vietnam Wood World Company agreed on many contents, including on labor contracts and social insurance - health insurance - unemployment insurance: The company committed to signing 12-month labor contracts and participating in full social insurance - health insurance - unemployment insurance according to the law for all company workers starting from April 1, 2016.

For employees who have worked for a long time, the company will follow the instructions of the Vietnamese state management agency to sign labor contracts and participate in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law.

Police were present at the scene to investigate the incident.

Based on that, on March 15, 2016, the Trade Union of the Southeast Economic Zone issued Official Letter No. 10 CD/KTT to the leaders of the Vietnam Wood World Joint Stock Company to comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law. Including the implementation of regulations on social insurance according to the provisions of the Labor Law and the Social Insurance Law; Comply with Chapter 3 of the Labor Code on labor contracts, Decree 05/2005/ND-CP dated January 12, 2015 guiding the implementation of some contents of the Labor Code. The labor contract must be concluded in writing and made in 2 copies, the employee keeps one copy, the employer keeps one copy.

However, according to the leader of the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union, up to now, Vietnam Wood World Company has not yet fulfilled its dialogue commitment.
