On the afternoon of March 17, the Vietnamese team continued to train, to prepare for the match against the Indonesian team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Round 2. This training session did not have the presence of striker Nguyen Cong Phuong.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that a player from Yokohama FC (Japan) had a relapse of his ankle injury in Japan. Previously, on the morning of March 16, this player also had to practice separately with a fitness trainer.
Doctors assessed this injury as not too serious and Cong Phuong needs to rest to get into the best physical condition before returning to practice with the ball.

Cong Phuong was called up to the Vietnam national team on March 14. However, the French coach only let this striker practice with the Vietnam U23 team and has not yet paired him with the Vietnam national team's attack.
