Dedicated Population Collaborator
(Baonghean) - As a population collaborator of Hamlet 2, mountainous commune of Que Son (Que Phong), with her enthusiasm and diligence, Ms. Bui Thi Vinh has contributed to helping the hamlet not have a third or more child for 17 consecutive years.
Working as a population collaborator in the mountainous region, Ms. Vinh encountered many difficulties. When she went to propagate and mobilize the people, she was chased away many times by the landlord, who said that she was disturbing them. The matter of having children was up to the family to decide. They could raise their children. For a long time, the people had many children and grandchildren and still lived normally...
Once, Ms. Vinh had just stepped into Mr. Thuan's house (this family had only one child, a girl). That day, it was cold and raining heavily. When he heard Ms. Vinh's voice, Mr. Thuan immediately ran out and slammed the door. She had no choice but to leave the flyer in the crack of the door and then quietly left. The next morning, while the whole family was sleeping, Mr. Thuan came and knocked on the door, holding a crumpled flyer in his hand, his face angry: "I forbid you from coming to my house to do this anymore, my family has to have more children, it doesn't stop here, don't bring bad things into my house...". Ms. Vinh still remembers that when he turned around and left, Mr. Thuan threatened: "If you continue to come to my house or meet my wife, don't blame me for being cruel, if my wife doesn't give birth anymore, it's your fault...". But Ms. Vinh told herself: "Having attached this job to me, I have to accept everything, people are angry with me, they blame me if they don't understand me, if I persevere and work hard, I will be able to convince them."
And that's right, the first success that came to her was that Mr. Thuan listened to her share. Ms. Vinh said: "With Mr. Thuan, I had to spend a whole month going back and forth. When I heard her propaganda and persuasion, Mr. Thuan understood the problem." With Ms. Vinh's advice and help, Mr. Thuan and his wife stopped having children and focused on raising their children to study better. Now Mr. Thuan's family has a vegetable farm supplying Kim Son market. Life is quite comfortable.
People in Que Son hamlet 2 in particular (Que Son commune in general) liken Ms. Vinh to a hard-working bee who diligently collects honey for life. When she accepts a job, she must do her best and be passionate, always take the lead, and set an example for her family and neighbors to follow. Luckily for her, she has a good husband who always shares with her, her children are obedient and her eldest child has also grown up. Ms. Vinh not only does a good job of "going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every subject" but she also takes on the role of a village women's association leader well. She is the center of reconciliation of relationships in the family, friends, and neighbors. She devotes her heart and soul to the work of a population collaborator, but she always does a good job with her family. Every night she stays up late to slice bananas and chop vegetables, but the next morning she wakes up early to prepare meals for the whole family, especially taking care of her old and weak mother-in-law. She is like a wheel that never stops. Thanks to her dedication and enthusiasm, the population work in Hamlet 2 (Que Son) has been well maintained for the past 17 years, with no one giving birth to a third or more children.
Ms. Vinh said: “Reducing birth rate means reducing poverty. I want every family to escape poverty, have a growing economy, raise healthy children, teach good children, and have a happy family. That is why my enthusiasm and dedication are growing day by day.”
