Specifically, grade 1 sugarcane in the field will be purchased by Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company at the price of VND1,050,000/ton, an increase of VND130,000/ton compared to last year (VND920,000/ton). During the first 10 days of harvest, the company will support an additional VND30,000/ton, equivalent to VND1,080,000/ton, the highest price in recent years.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Quy - Deputy Director of Song Con Sugar Joint Stock Company commented: There are two main reasons for the high sugarcane price this year. Firstly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued a Decision to apply anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures officially on sugarcane products originating from Thailand. Secondly, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the import of sugar has also encountered many difficulties, thereby increasing domestic sugar prices.

It is expected that Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company will start the crushing season in the next few days. To ensure productivity, progress, and meet the demand for raw materials, the Company will bring in 3 sugarcane harvesting machines to help farmers harvest at a lower cost than hiring workers.

Currently, the raw sugarcane growing area of ​​Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company is nearly 5,000 hectares, mainly concentrated in Tan Ky, Thanh Chuong, Anh Son, Yen Thanh and Do Luong districts. The annual sugarcane output is about 250,000 - 380,000 tons/year, which is not enough to meet the processing capacity of the company. Therefore, restoring and expanding the raw material area is a vital task in the company's business strategy.
