(Baonghean.vn) -Returning to Na Loi, Ky Son after more than a year, I was amazed: the grounds of Border Guard Post 535 were so spacious, clean, and attractive. The soldiers in their green uniforms welcomed us with bright, friendly smiles, full of human warmth...

Lieutenant Colonel Mai Van Cuong, Political Officer of Border Guard Post 535 (Nghe An Border Guard Command), enthusiastically stated: The unit is tasked with protecting 8km of border with 4 border markers, covering two communes, Na Loi and Dooc May, with 677 households/3603 people, comprising three ethnic groups: Mong, Thai, and Kho Mu. Local Party committees and authorities have cooperated well with Border Guard Post 535 in building and strengthening the political foundation, developing socio-economic conditions, and consolidating and maintaining national defense and security.

In particular, the unit proactively developed a plan to coordinate with mass organizations in Dooc May commune to detect and prevent 27 households from attempting to migrate to Laos. This was done effectively in accordance with Directive 13 CT-UBND of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.Regarding the campaign to encourage people to surrender weapons, explosives, fireworks, and supporting tools in border areas,Initially, the outpost seized 46 flintlock rifles and 28 rifle barrels; it also detected, advised on, and coordinated the handling of land disputes and border regulation violations. The unit also advised the local authorities on the effective implementation of Program 167 CP on poverty eradication; addressed the consequences of natural disasters; provided free medical examinations and medicine to the people; and organized two literacy classes with 35 participants.

Lieutenant Colonel Mai Van Cuong invited me to tour the unit's grounds, showing me the system of signboards, trenches, fortifications, the agricultural and livestock area, the sports area (volleyball court, badminton court, table tennis room), the assembly hall, and the reading room. All the facilities were very well-planned, scientifically designed, neatly arranged, and ensured a pleasant environment and landscape within the unit. I secretly admired the soldiers – those who, day and night, overcome all difficulties, hardships, and deprivations, far from their wives, children, families, friends, and loved ones, to uphold the "border of the Fatherland," a noble responsibility entrusted to the Border Guard Force by the Party, the State, and the people.

I met Lieutenant Trinh Dang Hung – Secretary of the Youth Union branch at the Border Guard Post, one of the 80 outstanding young people honored by the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union in 2011. Lieutenant Hung invited me to see the "Youth Project," and introduced it: this is the hydrangea tree forming the border around the flower garden; these are the pine trees, palm trees, and bougainvillea; these are the impatiens and portulaca flowers placed in two star shapes... Soon, the Youth Union branch is considering suitable plants to grow in the shape of a heart to enclose the star in the middle, symbolizing the Fatherland being in the heart of the officers and soldiers of the Border Guard. I appreciated that excellent, creative, and truly meaningful idea.

Looking at the lush, straight rows of trees and the colorful flowers in the garden."Youth projects" during March - Youth Month.I admire your dynamic outlook and determination."Refresh, beautify"Your boldness and initiative have ensured that the old, worn-out paths of the past are no more, replaced instead by new ones."small park"These structures have sprung up on the once rough, rocky terrain of this remote border region in western Nghe An province. This is all the more commendable, given that the soldiers, in addition to their duty of managing and protecting national border security, have invested their efforts, time, and even money to beautify the world.

Far from Na Loi, Ky Son, in this remote, windswept borderland, the image of the "soldiers' park" remains etched in my memory.
