CPC and Thailand meet on withdrawing troops from the border
On June 27, the second meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Working Group (JWG) took place in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, continuing the negotiation process on the issue of troop withdrawal.from the disputed border area around the ancient temple of Preah Vihear.
The one-day meeting was co-chaired by General Neang Phat, Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, and General Worapong Sanganetra, Chief of Joint Staff of the Royal Thai Army.

Opening the meeting, General Neang Phat said that the meeting would continue to discuss the procedures for implementing the July 18, 2011 ruling of the International Court of Justice (IJC), according to which Cambodia and Thailand must immediately withdraw troops from the Demilitarized Zone (PDZ) around the Preah Vihear temple and allow observers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) access to the area to monitor the ceasefire.
For his part, General Sanganetra said that this meeting will further enhance mutual understanding between the two countries' armies and create a safe environment for border areas./.
