CPI October: Food prices increase the most

Statistics just released by the General Statistics Office show that the consumer price index (CPI) of the whole country in October 2013 increased by 0.49% compared to September 2013.
Thus, from the beginning of the year to October, the national CPI increased by 6.74%.
Of which, 9/11 groups of goods and services increased, but no group exceeded 1%; meanwhile, 2 groups decreased: transportation and post and telecommunications.
The food and catering services group increased the most with 0.86%. Of which, food increased by 1.04% and foodstuff increased by 0.91% compared to September 2013.
Medicines and medical services group increased by 0.1%.
Meanwhile, the transportation group decreased by 0.17% and the post and telecommunications group decreased by 0.03%.
Among the eight regions of the country, the region with the highest CPI increase compared to September 2013 was the Northwest with an increase of 1.21%; followed by the North Central region with 0.96%; the remaining regions had increases from 0.2 to 0.5%.
Ho Chi Minh City's CPI this month has slowed down sharply, increasing by only 0.17% compared to September and 4.89% compared to the same period last year. Thus, after 10 months, the city's CPI has increased by 4.61%.
Meanwhile, according to the Hanoi Statistics Office, the CPI in the capital increased by 0.57% compared to the previous month and increased by 6.89% compared to the same period last year. Thus, after 10 months, the capital's CPI increased by 6.4%./.
