Crimea does not need NATO recognition
(Baonghean.vn) - Crimean officials declared that the peninsula does not need NATO's recognition, and that all assessments by the alliance about Crimea's annexation into Russia are flawed and unfair. At the same time, they requested that NATO should "start with itself" - stop supplying weapons to Ukraine.

The head of the Crimean Parliamentary Committee on Public Relations and Inter-Peoples Relations, Yuri Gempel, stated that Crimea does not need NATO's recognition, and any assessment by the alliance regarding the peninsula's annexation to Russia is flawed and unfair.
This was the response of Crimean officials to NATO’s statements at the alliance’s summit in Vilnius (Lithuania). Accordingly, NATO called on Russia to immediately and unconditionally withdraw all its forces from the territory of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders. NATO “never recognizes” the annexations carried out by Russia, including the annexation of Crimea.
“Crimea has returned to the Motherland forever, and is developing as part of the Russian Federation. Crimeans do not need and do not care about NATO recognition,” Gempel affirmed.
According to the Crimean leader, NATO officials do not understand that in 2014, for the people of Crimea, there was no annexation but a victory of justice, when the Crimeans were reunited with their historical homeland.
“Today, all NATO assessments regarding the annexation of Crimea to Russia are flawed and unfair. So let them keep their statements and proposals. We are not interested,” Yuri Gempel, head of the Crimean Parliamentary Committee on Public Relations and Inter-ethnic Relations, stressed.
Meanwhile, Crimea's State Duma Deputy, Major General Leonid Ivlev, demanded that NATO “start with itself”, by stopping arms supplies and withdrawing mercenaries from Ukraine, before suggesting what Russia should do.
