100-year-old Japanese woman sets record after swimming 1,500m
A 100-year-old woman in Japan on April 4 completed a 1,500-meter swim in the women's freestyle swimming competition in a 25-meter pool, becoming the first person in the world to complete the race at the age of 100-104.

According to the Japan Swimming Association, Mieko Nagaoka completed her race in a world record time of 1 hour 15 minutes 54 seconds.
This achievement of his will likely be officially recognized by Guinness World Records after being registered with the International Swimming Federation.
Mr. Nagaoka, who was the only person participating in the swimming competition on April 4, performed the record-breaking backstroke.
“I want to swim until I turn 105 if I can live that long,” said the 80-year-old, who lives in Tabuse, Yamaguchi Prefecture, western Japan.
