With the departure of two leading athletes Hoang Anh Tuan and Nguyen Thi Thiet, Vietnamese weightlifting has entered a search for a strong enough successor to participate in major regional and continental tournaments.

In order to improve the achievements of these athletes, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training has decided to hire a foreign coach, the experienced Bulgarian expert Danikov. With a salary of 2,000 USD/month, Coach Danikov is responsible for leading the Vietnamese weightlifting team at the upcoming 26th SEA Games and the 2012 London Olympic qualifiers.


In addition, two young athletes who won gold medals at the 25th SEA Games, Duong Thanh Truc (77kg weight class) and Nguyen Thi Kim Loan (69kg weight class), are also full of hope to defend their championship titles. Currently, the weightlifting team is training in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and will go to Bulgaria for training for 2 to 3 months at the end of the year.
