Yen Thanh voters: Solutions needed to reduce farmers leaving their hometowns

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 12, at the hall of the People's Committee of Long Thanh commune, candidates for the 14th National Assembly, constituency No. 3 and candidates for the Provincial People's Council for the 2016-2021 term, constituency No. 6 had a meeting with voters of 11 communes of Yen Thanh district.

Candidates for the 14th National Assembly in constituency No. 3 include Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Sy Hoi - Deputy Commander of Military Region 4; Hoang Thi Thu Trang - Deputy Director of the Provincial Civil Judgment Enforcement Department; Nguyen Van Cong - Deputy Head of the Department, Provincial Civil Judgment Enforcement Department; Nguyen Manh Ha - Chief Inspector of the Department of Science & Technology.

Candidates for the Provincial People's Council for the 2016-2021 term in constituency No. 6 include Mr. and Mrs. Bui Thi Quynh Bien - Deputy Head of the Youth and School Committee, Department of Justice; Hoang Quoc Hao - Director of the Department of Justice; Nguyen Dinh Hung - Member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Provincial Party Committee Member, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union; Vuong Quang Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Tran Thi Thuy - Head of the Department of Legal Dissemination and Education, Department of Justice.

Conference Overview.

In the action program presented at the conference, the candidates linked the tasks and responsibilities of each delegate with many specific solutions to contribute to the socio-economic development of the province in general and Yen Thanh district in particular.

Specifically, these are solutions to promote the development of industry, agriculture, services, traditional craft villages associated with building brands and product outputs; promoting the potentials and advantages of the district, especially in the fields of cultivation, poultry and waterfowl farming to develop the economy and build new rural areas... At the same time, there are solutions to focus on developing human resources, vocational training, job creation; promoting administrative reform; improving the quality of education and training...

Through following the biography and action program of each candidate, voters' opinions show trust and expectation that candidates, once receiving voters' votes, need to effectively implement their action programs.

In addition, voters also made recommendations on issues related to the uncontrollable situation of dirty food, the need for a comprehensive solution for flood drainage and waterlogging in low-lying areas in the district; the increasing crime rate among teenagers; the implementation of the 7th Central Resolution on agriculture, rural areas and farmers has not had many changes; there needs to be a clear orientation on high-income, high-tech fields, especially in rice production; be careful in attracting investment, specifically assessing production capacity, finance and especially focusing on environmental protection... to avoid the situation of more harm than good.

At the meeting, many voters were concerned about agricultural product prices. Voters explained that while the prices of most commodities fluctuated in an upward direction, the prices of agricultural products remained stable, sometimes even decreasing. Unable to make a living from farming, many households left their land to work for hire. This is a cause for concern because Yen Thanh is the province's rice granary. Voters hope that if agricultural processing factories are attracted to consume their products, farmers will certainly no longer have to leave their hometowns to find work as they do now.

Voter Hoang Luong (89 years old) contributed his opinion at the meeting.

On behalf of the candidates, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh received and acknowledged the opinions and expectations of voters, and at the same time hoped that in order for National Assembly and Provincial People's Council delegates to better perform their roles, they need dedicated opinions originating from the daily lives of the people themselves.

The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that in order to build Nghe An into a rich province in the region, in addition to the efforts of provincial leaders and all levels of sectors, it is necessary to have the enthusiastic contributions of voters and intellectuals nationwide.
