The Cuban Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM) announced on December 31 that it had successfully developed a new vaccine to prevent lung cancer.

According to researcher Ana Maria Vazquez of CIM, this vaccine, also called Racotumomab, has been in clinical trials throughout this year and has demonstrated its ability to increase the survival rate of cancer patients, as well as showing its safety and tolerance.

This new vaccine helps fight lung cancer by promoting the destruction of cancer cells and limiting the appearance of tumors.

Racotumomab is the second vaccine line that CIM has developed to prevent lung cancer, following the CIMAvax EGF line that has proven effective in treating cancer patients in Cuba.

Lung cancer is the second most common form of cancer in Cuba with about 5,000 cases in the pre-stage of the disease./.
