The book by author Garcia Oliveras is a valuable contribution to the archive of documents about the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh, helping young generations of Cuba understand more about the historical process and heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Garcia Oliveras recounted unforgettable memories during the time he was sent by the Cuban Party and Government to work in Vietnam, as head of the Cuban Military Delegation to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos (from 1966-1969).
During that time, he witnessed with his own eyes the pain, sacrifices, and losses of the Vietnamese people; witnessed the brutal bombings of the US Air Force on villages and cities; on schools and hospitals. And it was also here that he realized that the Vietnamese people, a people with a thousand-year tradition of fighting to build and defend the country, would never be defeated.
The author especially praises President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary will, moral qualities and boundless patriotism and love for the people during his 30 years abroad to find a way to fight for national liberation.
He said: “Ho Chi Minh never dreamed, never fought for the purpose of becoming a great man of humanity. His struggle is a great contribution to all oppressed peoples in the world. I feel extremely happy to contribute a very small part in introducing his life and revolutionary career.”
At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong thanked the Academy of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for organizing the book introduction ceremony; and thanked the author for the valuable documents about President Ho Chi Minh.
On this occasion, the ambassador presented the Academy with a DVD documentary about the outstanding events during Uncle Ho's revolutionary activities abroad and important milestones of the Vietnamese Revolution./.
