Cuba mourns great friend Vo Nguyen Giap
Cuba, a great friend of the Vietnamese people, expressed its condolences upon hearing the news of General Vo Nguyen Giap's passing.
According to the VNA correspondent in Havana, the Cubadebate website, the Prensa Latina news agency and Cuban television simultaneously reported on the passing of General Vo Nguyen Giap at the age of 103 in Hanoi, and posted a series of documentary photos about the life and career of the general considered the "Elder Brother" of the Vietnam People's Army.

Prensa Latina news agency praised General Vo Nguyen Giap as an outstanding military strategist who commanded the Vietnamese army to drive out the French colonialists, culminating in the historic Dien Bien Phu victory, and then he continued to skillfully apply the strategy of people's war to drive out the US imperialists. Prensa Latina also emphasized that General Giap's art of guerrilla warfare was a source of inspiration for soldiers fighting for national independence around the world, and his books on military strategy are still valuable documents that military experts around the world still seek to read.
Meanwhile, along with reporting on the passing of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the Cubadebate website also published a detailed biography of the life and career of the outstanding commander of the Vietnam People's Army, affirming that General Giap was not only a master in the art of commanding revolutionary struggles, but also the author of the famous book "People's War, People's Army" based on his own combat experiences. Cubadebate also published a series of documentary photos about the life of General Vo Nguyen Giap, from his youth when he participated in revolutionary activities, the period of fighting alongside Uncle Ho in the Northwest mountains, the fight against the US to save the country until his retirement.
Cuban television also broadcast precious documentary images about the General's life and his historic meetings with leader Fidel Castro and the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez when these leaders visited Vietnam. The news from Cuban television confirmed that the General's passing was a great loss not only to the Vietnamese people, but also to millions of people who admired him around the world.

On the same day, the Government of Nicaragua sent a message of condolences to the Government of Vietnam after receiving information about the passing of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Hanoi.
Speaking to the press, First Lady and Government Spokesperson of Nicaragua, Ms. Rosario Murillo, sent the deepest condolences of the Government and people of Nicaragua to the General's family, the Government and people of Vietnam, and praised the outstanding role of General Vo Nguyen Giap in the long-term struggle against French colonialism and American imperialism of the Vietnamese people.
Ms. Murillo emphasized that the image of the legendary general is a powerful testament to the just struggle with consecutive victories of the Vietnamese people, and it is these victories that have helped Vietnam stand up to protect its sovereignty, independence and national freedom, as well as ensure the process of development and national construction./.
