(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, July 19, the working delegation of the Department of Animal Health led by Mr. Hoang Van Nam - Acting Director of the Department had a working session with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on the issue of disease prevention in livestock and poultry. On the provincial side, there was Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, representatives of a number of departments and branches: Department of Industry and Trade, Provincial Police, Provincial Border Guard, Nghe An Customs, Veterinary Agency of Region III and a number of localities currently experiencing the epidemic.
In Nghe An, from June 9 to July 17, avian influenza occurred in 5 districts, cities and towns: Quynh Luu, Vinh City, Hung Nguyen, Thai Hoa Town and Nghi Loc, the total number of sick poultry that had to be destroyed was 16,043; from July 3 to July 17, blue ear disease in pigs occurred in 3 districts: Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu and Thanh Chuong, the total number of pigs that had to be destroyed was 894. In addition, hepatopancreatic necrosis syndrome in farmed shrimp also occurred from June 27 to July 15 on 18.75 hectares of lagoon in 8 communes of Quynh Luu and Nghi Loc districts.
At the meeting, after listening to the report on the epidemic situation and discussing solutions to prevent the epidemic, representatives of the Department of Animal Health and the People's Committee of Nghe An province agreed: In the current complicated epidemic situation, localities must prioritize epidemic prevention, direct resolutely, implement synchronous solutions, mobilize all forces to focus on fighting the epidemic. Strengthen propaganda so that people can proactively fight the epidemic, strengthen disease surveillance and strictly handle violations; carry out thorough quarantine, strictly control the transportation of livestock and poultry within and outside the province, especially buffaloes and cows transported from Ky Son to lowland districts in the province; at the same time, launch a general cleaning and disinfection campaign in the whole province; continue to organize vaccination to surround epidemic areas as well as effectively implement vaccination for livestock and poultry in the autumn crop of 2012.
