(Baonghean.vn) - From around 10pm last night (January 9) until 1am this morning (January 10), it snowed heavily in the Tram Ton area, O Quy Ho pass, 12km from Sa Pa town, Lao Cai.
Compared to the previous two snowfalls in December 2013 and January 2014, the amount of snowfall this time was less. The snow thickness at the highest point, O Quy Ho, was from 10 to 20 cm.
With the current temperature of 1 to 3 degrees Celsius, plus drizzle, no fog, clear sky, according to local people's experience, it may continue to snow tonight and tomorrow.
According to initial statistics, snowfall has affected 100 hectares of chayote and 200 hectares of winter vegetables.
Since this morning, tourists from all over have flocked to Sa Pa to admire this natural phenomenon which is considered rare in Vietnam.
