Relive the days and nights of 1972
People in the capital will be able to relive the heroic atmosphere of the past with “Hanoi, the days and nights of 1972” - the name of the exhibition that will open on the evening of October 11 at the French Cultural Center, Hanoi.
The exhibition recreates the most memorable moments of 1972, a pivotal year for resolving the conflict between Vietnam and the United States, with what the people of Hanoi lived and experienced.

As a contribution to the study of contemporary Vietnamese history, the exhibition was organized from the idea of the French Institute of the Far East and the French Embassy in Vietnam, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the bombing of the French Representative Office in Hanoi on October 11, 1972.
From the re-bombing of North Vietnam in the spring of 1972 until the signing of the Paris Agreement on January 27, 1973, the exhibition recreates the lives of Hanoians and the tragic fate of thousands of civilians killed or injured in the destructive war of the American Empire through historical documents and witnesses.
The organizers said that the films, documentary photos and documents were provided from many different sources in Vietnam such as Vietnam News Agency, Air Defense - Air Force Museum, Central Scientific Documentary Film Studio...
Document sources in France are provided by the National Audiovisual Institute, the La Défense Department of Information and Audiovisual Production, the La Courneuve Diplomatic Archives Center, along with private sources provided by owners such as Mr. Jean-Marc Gravier, Mr. Alain Wasmes, Mr. Nicolas Cornet, and Mr. Chu Chi Thanh.
In particular, excerpts of stories collected from witnesses living in Hanoi when the event occurred contribute to completing the overall picture of the exhibition.
Alongside the exhibition, there is also a discussion on “1972 - the key year to resolve the conflict between Vietnam and the United States.”./.
