Bui Bich Phuong was the first Miss Vietnam in the beauty contest organized by Tien Phong newspaper in 1988.
Bui Bich Phuong was born in 1971 into a family of intellectuals in Hanoi. Her father was the late artist Bui Duc Minh - a talented Hanoian who loved art. Her mother was Nguyen Thi Thuyet Hoa, a beautiful, virtuous woman also born into a well-educated family.
She always talks about her family with the two words "together" to express happiness, love and overcoming difficulties together.
Give up the halo to pursue knowledge
In 1988, Bui Bich Phuong was crowned in the first beauty pageant in the unified Vietnam. At that time, she was a first-year student of the English Department, Hanoi University of Science. Her measurements were 6-60-88cm, and her height was 1.58m.

Although she did not have the advantage of height, she stood out thanks to her sweet, charming beauty, good education background and intelligent communication skills. The prize for Bui Bich Phuong when she was crowned was a Mifa bicycle, which at that time was worth 4 taels of gold.
At that time, few people knew that the beautiful student Bui Bich Phuong still worked as a tutor and translator every day for 500 VND/page to earn money to pay for her tuition. Although she became famous after becoming Miss, she was still determined to pursue her education. She is fluent in 2 foreign languages, English and Korean, and can speak Chinese and French.
In 1994, she received a scholarship to study abroad in Korea and received a master's degree from Seoul University.

After graduating from university, she returned to Vietnam to work as a foreign affairs officer at the Institute for State and Law Studies. In addition, the beauty queen also majored in National Economics and International Economics.
Currently, Bui Bich Phuong works for the Korean Higher Education Foundation, directly coordinating activities in the Southeast Asia region. She has made significant contributions to the development, scientific research, and strengthening educational cooperation between Vietnamese and international scientists. In addition, she also invests and develops real estate domestically and internationally.
Happy home with a PhD husband
Besides her impressive career, Bui Bich Phuong also has a happy and fulfilling married life with Dr. Vu Thieu Giang. She shared that her husband is the one who always stands behind her, cheering and encouraging her to strive in her career.
They got married in 2000 and welcomed their first son Gia Hien a year later. In 2004, the couple welcomed their daughter Phuong Anh.
At work, she is a boss, and when she goes out, people call her a beauty queen, but when she comes home after work, she is a perfect housewife. With her children, Bich Phuong does not put pressure on them to study, but always wants them to develop harmoniously between academic studies and extracurricular subjects.

Since getting married, Bui Bich Phuong has hardly participated in entertainment activities. She occasionally accepts invitations to be a guest in beauty contests, and spends the rest of her time taking care of her small family.
After 37 years of being crowned, Bui Bich Phuong still maintains her charming and graceful beauty, always praised for looking much younger than her 54 years of age. The beauty queen said she often wears very light makeup, or even no makeup, so few people recognize her.
"For women, physical beauty is always a source of pride and a dream, and for beauty queens, it is a criterion to affirm and honor the 'perfect beauty' of the title. Therefore, to maintain youthful beauty is a long journey of training and preservation that is quite difficult and arduous."beauty queen confided
In recent years, Bui Bich Phuong has appeared more frequently when accompanying the Miss Vietnam contest. She often wears elegant outfits when judging and closely follows the contestants during activities.

Bui Bich Phuong once confided that she has a passion for beauty, especially beautifying villas with her own ideas and designs. The luxurious villa worth over 70 billion VND in Hanoi was decorated by her.
During his lifetime, poet Duong Ky Anh once revealed that Bui Bich Phuong had many villas spanning the North, Central and South regions, including beach villas, garden villas, eco-villas, and high-rise villas...
Despite possessing a large fortune, Bui Bich Phuong still admits that she has a simple life, not as luxurious as people think of a beauty queen.

As the first person to be crowned Miss Vietnam, Bui Bich Phuong is considered the most typical and long-lasting beauty queen in terms of body, personality, behavior and contribution to society. Therefore, she still maintains a perfect image in the hearts of the public after nearly 4 decades of receiving the crown.
