"Young Vietnamese Talents in France 2012" Contest

The final night of the contest "Young Vietnamese Talents in France 2012" just took place at the Armande Béjart theater, about 25km from Paris, France, in a youthful, lively and Vietnamese atmosphere.

First prize went to the trio Ha My-Minh Anh and Hoang Long (from Paris), with two songs "Going to School" and "My Homeland" remixed in Acoustic style with self-accompaniment by piano and drums.

Second and third prizes went to Tran Mai Hanh (Paris) and Nguyen Song Nguyen (Aix en Province), with performances singing in French and Vietnamese accompanied by piano.

The "Young Vietnamese Talents in France 2012" contest is organized by the Union of Vietnamese Students in France (UEVF) with the support of the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​the Union of Vietnamese People (UGVF) and the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France; sponsored by Vietnam Airlines and a number of other sponsors.

The contest is held every two years on the occasion of Tet by the Vietnamese Student Association in France, interspersed with other contests such as "Miss Vietnamese Students in France" (Miss Spring). The performances are rehearsed and staged quite elaborately.

With the students' wholehearted dedication, youthfulness, mischievousness, and profoundness, the "Welcome Spring 2012" night left a strong, deep, and unforgettable impression in the hearts of the audience - including leaders of the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​Vietnamese representative agencies in France, along with a large number of overseas Vietnamese, Vietnamese students from many provinces and cities of France, and many professors and French friends.

Here, the audience enjoyed many performances of singing, dancing, modern music, comedy, especially the unique and new belly dance performed for the first time by Cao Phuong Khanh.

Ambassador Duong Chi Dung welcomed the initiative to organize a Vietnamese young talent contest in France on the occasion of Tet, which is considered a good and vibrant traditional spiritual activity of Vietnamese youth and students in France, demonstrating the growth of the Vietnamese student movement in France.

The Ambassador praised the students' efforts in ensuring good study and in activities towards the country, and affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in France always supports and backs these movements.

According to UEVF President Hoang Nang Thang, the competition not only aims to discover young Vietnamese talents in many fields, bringing together all of you in a joyful atmosphere of early spring, but also is a fun and interesting playground for students of different majors during the traditional Tet holidays of the nation to ease the sadness of missing the homeland and family, at the same time creating solidarity and unity in the Vietnamese student community in France, increasing mutual help in study and in life.

Within the framework of the "Welcome Spring 2012" night, the Ambassador also awarded certificates of merit and prizes to branches and individual Vietnamese students, in different fields of study (University, Master, PhD) in several provinces and cities of France for their outstanding achievements in study, research and association activities.

Vietnam Airlines awarded two round-trip tickets from Hanoi to Paris to the first-prize winning group and one lucky draw winner./.
