8 young men sentenced to prison for stealing dogs to eat and drink

On July 28, the People's Court of Ea H'leo district (Dak Lak province) opened the first instance trial of defendant Y De Mnol (22 years old, residing in Buon Tung Se, Ea Ral commune, Ea H'Leo district) and 07 defendants for the crime of "Robbery".

According to the indictment, there was a conflict between Pham Van Chinh and Mr. Pham Van Lich, so on the evening of May 16, 2015, Chinh asked Y De Mnol and Y Bhung A Drong to invite Y Ming Nie, Y Biu Nie, Y Bom A Drong, Y Tham Rcam, Y Phinct Rcam, and Y Trai Ksor to go destroy Mr. Lich's property, and they all agreed.

Chinh bought alcohol for Y De's group to drink. In the evening, the group took iron pipes and wooden sticks to Mr. Lich's house to destroy property. When they arrived, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong and Pham Van Truong (Mr. Lich's wife and son) were at home.

Seeing so many people with sticks and clubs rushing into the house, Mrs. Phuong was scared and ran to the neighbor's house. Seeing that, the whole group used sticks to destroy property in Mr. Lich's house, hit Truong's hands many times, then the whole group went outside.

At this time, Y De said he was going to beat the dog that was chained under the bathroom and take it to be butchered. Hearing that, Y Ming used a flashlight to guide Y Bom and Y Phinct to use a stick to beat the dog to death. Then Y BHung took the dog and went to Heo slope (village 3, Ea Ral commune, Ea H'Leo district). Here, the group butchered the dog and continued drinking until around morning of May 17, 2015. Y De's group dispersed and went home.

At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced defendant Y De Mnol to 02 years 06 months in prison, sentenced the other defendants to 01 year 06 months in prison, and sentenced defendant Y Biu Nie to 01 year in prison but suspended the sentence and compensated the victim's family more than 42 million VND.
