"The Donbass authorities will not return. Even if Donbass has nowhere to return to, they will not return to Ukraine in the current circumstances. Never! In Ukraine, where speech and freedom are restricted. The authorities do nothing, not even to stop a war," Elena Lukash said in an interview on Ukraine's Channel 112.

Elena added that, according to UNICEF's assessment, since the Donbass conflict began, 10 children have been killed - twice as many as the previous year, when Ukraine was under the leadership of his predecessor, Petro Poroshenko. Schools have also been destroyed in territory not controlled by Kiev, the organization said.

"People may not pay attention to the reports of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations, under President Zelensky, the armed forces were not strictly controlled, there were continuous acts of torture and violent looting. Mr. Zelensky will not do anything for Donbass. Even the government continues to play games in the peace process, creating the illusion of something" - Ms. Elena emphasized.

According to Ms. Elena, during the past year of his term, President Zelensky did not implement any provisions of the Minsk Agreement or the Steinmeier Formula.

"I don't expect the Zelensky administration to accomplish that," former Justice Minister Elena Lukash said.

A peaceful solution to the five-year conflict in Donbass is being discussed, including a meeting of the parties in Minsk, aimed at adopting a new law on the special status of the region and adjusting the terms to de-escalate the conflict.

However, after the ceasefire agreements between the parties, military conflicts continued.

Regarding the Donbass process, President Zelensky announced that the special status of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk will not change the Constitution of Ukraine, which aims to bring the country into the EU and NATO.
