Veteran Cao Ba Van - the connector of kind hearts
(Baonghean.vn) - Each person doing a good deed, whether directly or indirectly, brings good results to society. Veteran Cao Ba Van - Vice President of the Association of War Veterans in Dien Hoa Commune (Dien Chau) is known by many people for his good deeds for the poor and those in especially difficult circumstances.
Visiting martyr Pham Thi Binh's mother in hamlet 3. In the cozy two-room house that still smells of paint, Binh's mother could not hide her joy because from now on she would not be able to avoid anxiety during storms. The place where her son and husband worshipped was also more proper. The house is a testament to the affection and responsibility of "drinking water thanks to the source" of Dien Hoa people towards policy families, including the great contribution of Mr. Cao Ba Van who skillfully acted as a bridge, mobilizing businesses to support 50 million VND to build a house for the martyr's mother.

Every day, veteran Cao Ba Van diligently gathers people in difficult circumstances to call on businesses and philanthropists to support house building. |
Martyr Pham Thi Binh's mother shared: It was very difficult before, when he was alive, when it rained, we had to move beds all over the house. The walls were cracked and everyone told us to move to another place or else they would collapse. But luckily, thanks to Mr. Van calling on companies to support us, we have this house. At over 80 years old, we have a solid house to live in, so we are very happy. Not only for my family, but also for many Dien Hoa people who have had their houses built. We are grateful to Mr. Van for joining hands so that poor families can have a house to live in.
After returning from the army, veteran Cao Ba Van always felt sad because his hometown still had many difficult circumstances, families of wounded soldiers and martyrs who had no place to live due to illness. Realizing that in Dien Hoa commune there were quite a few children who were doing business successfully, he came up with the idea of being a bridge for them to reach the poor. With his diplomatic ability and above all his enthusiasm without any selfish motive, he advised the Party Committee to call on children far from home to join hands in building their homeland. Thereby, Textile Company 7 in District 7 (Ho Chi Minh City) actively supported his work.
The work initially seemed to be going well, however, when in 2008-2009 the company had just supported the construction of 3 new charity houses, it decided to stop because of many objections, because Nghe An was not the area that the company chose for charity activities. Mr. Van took a bus to the company in Ho Chi Minh City, lobbied the leadership and invited them to Dien Hoa to see the real life of the people. Admiring the veteran's heart, the company moved the support area to Nghe An.

CCB Cao Ba Van actually checks the quality of construction projects supported. |
Veteran Cao Ba Van shared: To be able to help others, first of all, we must be exemplary and responsible. In addition to calling for help, we must also be responsible for helping them spiritually and materially.
On the other hand, he and the local authorities surveyed and directly inspected the construction of houses to ensure quality, and at the same time mobilized more support from the local authorities in terms of labor and materials. Initially, many houses were still hesitant to be built, because only after the houses were completed would the support money be given. Mr. Van did not hesitate to stand up and guarantee, "If there is no support money, I will pay for the houses for the people."
One house, two houses at first and now with enthusiasm and skillful mobilization, Mr. Van has created a spread in the community of people far from home, so up to now, there have been 28 houses of gratitude built in Dien Hoa. In addition to Dien Hoa, he has also mobilized the construction of 8 other houses of gratitude in the whole district, each house is supported from 30-70 million VND with a total value of 1.8 billion VND.
Not only mobilizing to build houses for people in difficult circumstances, Mr. Van also mobilized nearly 1 billion VND in donations to build many other welfare projects such as: martyrs' cemeteries, village gates, and purchase equipment for schools. Mr. Dang Trong Hung - Vice President of Dien Chau Veterans Association said: In addition to building a strong association, Mr. Van also has many meaningful works, he is worthy of being an exemplary veteran of Dien Chau district.
The actions of veteran Cao Ba Van have contributed to multiplying the kindness and sharing in the Dien Hoa community living far from home, joining hands to build their homeland to be more prosperous and beautiful. With his actions, veteran Cao Ba Van was honored by Dien Chau District Party Committee as a typical example after 5 years of implementing Directive 03 on "Continuing to promote studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh".
Veteran Cao Ba Van confided: “Although I never had the chance to meet Uncle Ho, his example always shines brightly, making me strive to do things that are useful to society. For me, as long as I am healthy, I will continue to propagate, mobilize, and act as a bridge to eliminate difficult circumstances and dilapidated houses.”
