(Baongehan.vn) - At 2:00 p.m. on November 21, 2014, the 873rd Water Transport Brigade (Logistics Department of Military Region 4) received a notice and a request for rescue from Thinh An 68 (Registration number: HN - 1016) which was drifting at coordinates 19 degrees 42 minutes 400N (North); 106 degrees 44 minutes 170E (East). After receiving orders from superiors, the 873rd Brigade directed officers and sailors of the 15-11-26 to quickly prepare and organize to move to the scene to perform the task.

Ship HN - 1016 of Thinh An Trading Company Limited, address 31 Nguyen Chi Thanh, Ngoc Khanh Ward, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, with 6 crew members, captained by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luong, carrying more than 1 thousand tons of cargo from Hai Phong to Quang Binh, when it was more than 30 nautical miles northeast of Hon Me Island (Thanh Hoa), the engine broke down (the propeller shaft was broken). Although it was approached and rescued by ship 3005 of Squadron 102 (Coast Guard Command), due to the large tonnage and severely damaged engine, it could not be towed.

After a period of preparation and maneuvering, at 11:00 a.m. on November 22, 2014, ship 15-11-26 of the 873rd Water Transport Brigade (Military Region 4) arrived at the location where ship HN-1016 had an accident. Officers and crew members of ship 15-11-26 of the 873rd Brigade quickly approached, inquired about the health status, encouraged the officers and crew members of the ship in distress, and checked the damaged machinery and performed rescue procedures, towing the ship to shore. At 4:00 p.m. on November 23, 2014, ship 15-11-26 of the 873rd Water Transport Brigade towed ship HN-1016 of Thinh An Trading Company Limited to anchor at Ben Thuy port, Nghe An province, ensuring absolute safety for people and goods on board.
