Former head of Israel's Nativ intelligence agency Yakov Kedmi said that all plans to weaken Russia in the direction of Ukraine have failed. He said this on the "Rossya 1" TV channel.

Mr. Kedmi believes that the main evidence of this is the change in foreign policy of Washington and the European Union towards Ukraine.

"There is no such thing as US policy. Small officials are trying to play games and fish in the murky waters of Ukraine, starting with the former US Vice President. The US President does not know why the hell Ukraine was handed over to him, and where this country stands in the US national interests," he said.

At the same time, Kedmi emphasized that, when in 2014 a coup occurred in Ukraine, the United States hoped to move closer to the Russian border, but as a result these efforts failed, and now the leaders of Western countries are paying less and less attention to Ukraine.

“The main goal of the Maidan in Ukraine is to deal a fatal blow to Russia, take Ukraine and move the US fleet and bases closer to Rostov,” the Israeli expert said.

Moreover, he stressed that the result turned out to be exactly the opposite, and from that moment Russia became much stronger.

In addition, Mr. Kedmi noted that over all these years, since the beginning of those events, the European Union has lost a lot of political weight, and also began to pay less attention to Ukraine.

At the same time, he added that the bigger concerns for Europe today are Russia and China, as well as growing misunderstandings with the United States.
