Successful rescue of fishing boat and 15 Nghe An crew members in distress at sea
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 14, after more than 24 hours of overcoming big waves and strong winds, officers and soldiers of Squadron 2, Nghe An Border Guard successfully rescued and brought 15 crew members and the fishing boat in distress to shore safely.
Previously, at 10:30 a.m. on June 13, the Nghe An Border Guard Command received information that a fishing boat with license plate NA 97175 TS and 15 crew members, led by Mr. Tran Dinh Chat, residing in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, was exploiting seafood at coordinates 18°53'' N - 106°53''E (about 72 nautical miles east of Mui Rong, Cua Lo, Nghe An) when the gearbox shaft broke. At that time, due to the influence of storm No. 1, the sea had big waves and strong winds.

The captain and crew attempted repairs but were unable to fix the problem and requested an emergency rescue.

Upon receiving the news, the Nghe An Border Guard Command coordinated with the Coastal Information Station and other joint forces to notify vessels operating at sea to come and assist in the rescue. Directed the Coast Guard units to notify coastal localities, fishing boat teams to unite, and fishing vessels near the area of the fishing boat in distress to come and assist. At the same time, mobilized ship CN 09 (BP 09.16.01) with 15 officers and soldiers commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Tu - Political Commissar of Squadron 2 to launch the rescue.

After more than 24 hours of overcoming big waves and strong winds, the rescue team reached the ship in distress, carried out rescue work, took care of the crew members' health and towed the ship to Lach Quen fishing port, Quynh Luu district, and handed it over to Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station and local authorities./.
