Successfully saved patient with ruptured small intestine and ruptured colon

(Baonghean.vn) - The surgery was performed by a team of doctors for more than 2 hours to remove 15 cm of ruptured small intestine, suture the colon, and sculpt the abdominal wall.

Patient Le Thi Thao is being monitored for special health after surgery on the afternoon of December 31.

On the afternoon of December 31, Dr. Tran Minh Long, Head of the Department of Surgical Resuscitation, Nghe An General Hospital, said that he had just performed emergency surgery to save a female patient with multiple abdominal trauma.

Doctor Long said that patient Le Thi Thao (17 years old, residing in Hung Son commune, Anh Son district) was transferred from the emergency department for emergency surgery in a state of abdominal wall contusion that had to be reconstructed; ruptured small intestine that had to be cut 15 cm; colon contusion that had to be stitched, loss of 1 liter of blood in the abdomen, the patient needed emergency IV and surgery.

Immediately after that, the group of 7 doctors and nurses worked for more than 2 hours and completed the surgery for patient Thao at noon today, December 31. Currently, Thao's health is recovering well but is being monitored closely," said Dr. Long.

Earlier, at 6:00 a.m. this morning, December 31, patient Le Thi Thao was admitted to the emergency room by her family in a state of severe blood loss. Emergency doctors determined that the victim had a wound on the left side of her abdomen in a mangled state, suspected to have been caused by an explosive.

It is known that on the night of December 30, Thao went out with friends and the incident happened in Con Cuong district. After receiving first aid at the district hospital, Thao was transferred by her family to the provincial General Hospital.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown to the family.
