Accordingly, asVietnamese Peoplereported that on the morning of February 23, while operating at position 16.50 degrees north latitude -108.30 degrees east longitude, about 49 nautical miles northeast of Da Nang, the rudder broke and the boat drifted freely at sea.
At that time, there were 9 crew members on board, in the northeast monsoon weather conditions of level 6-7 gusting above level 7. There was no means of support in the area where the ship was in distress, so the ship sent out a distress signal on the Vietnam Coastal Information Station.
After receiving the information, Danang MRCC coordinated with the Danang City Disaster Prevention and Control Board, Danang Border Guard Command, and Danang Coastal Information Station to find all measures to support the ship, and at the same time reported to Vietnam MRCC and the National Committee for Search and Rescue, proposing a plan to mobilize SAR 412 ship to the scene to rescue and support the ship in distress to return to shore.
At 2:35 p.m. the same day, Danang MRCC dispatched SAR 412 to the rescue. At 5:45 p.m., the rescue ship approached the location of the distressed ship and safely towed it to Danang MRCC port at 4:10 a.m. on February 24.
