Former Prime Minister Najib Razak established the 1 Malaysia Development Fund in 2009 to promote economic development through global partnerships and foreign direct investment. However, the fund is at the center of a money laundering scandal that caused a loss of 3.7 billion USD, leading to a series of financial market investigations in several countries such as the US, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, China...

According to Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, although the amount of money to be recovered has not been determined, the amount of dirty money flowing from Malaysia to the US alone has reached 4.5 billion USD.

Therefore, focusing on dealing with corruption is very important and the Malaysian Government will coordinate with countries such as the US, Switzerland, Singapore... to recover money from this Southeast Asian country./.
