Malaysia's Bernama news agency on September 2 quoted the country's Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar as saying that this speech needs to be carefully considered, including Mr. Mahathir's accusations that some leaders of branches of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) party received bribes.
"Apart from former Prime Minister Mahathir, the police will also summon all key figures of this illegal rally, including Selangor Chief Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali for questioning," Mr Khalid added.
Organisers of the Bersih 4 rally have been warned that they will face legal charges if they break the law during the weekend's protests.
