Former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew passes away at age 91
According to the announcement of the Singapore Prime Minister's Office, former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew passed away at 3:18 a.m. on March 23, at the age of 91.
The announcement said Mr. Lee Kuan Yew passed away “peacefully”.

Mr. Lee Kuan Yew has been hospitalized since 5 February 2015 due to severe pneumonia. Since his admission, he has been on a ventilator and receiving antibiotic treatment in the intensive care unit of the Singapore General Hospital.
Due to poor health, he has not been seen in public in recent months. His last appearance was at the 60th anniversary of the People's Action Party in November last year.
Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was the first Prime Minister of Singapore and the father of current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
He is credited with turning Singapore into one of the richest economies in Asia in just three decades.
Serving as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1990, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew is considered a person of great political influence in the Lion Island./.
