Former Vinashin general director serving 11 years in prison is again prosecuted

Mr. Tran Quang Vu (former general director of Vinashin, currently serving an 11-year prison sentence) continues to be a defendant in the case of financial management violations at Ben Thuy Shipyard.


In early November, the Investigation Police Agency of Ha Tinh Province Police prosecuted Mr. Tran Quang Vu (53 years old, former director of Ben Thuy Shipyard under Vinashin) for intentionally violating State regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences.

Vo Quang Vinh (49 years old, deputy general director of Vinashin Investment and Construction Company Limited), Le Dinh Trinh (39 years old, deputy director of VX Company - investment and construction consultancy), Nguyen Van Linh (45 years old, Construction Joint Stock Company No. 21 - Vinaconex) and Nguyen Cao Cuong (33 years old, officer of Nghe An Petroleum Company) were prosecuted for the same crime.



5 suspects at the investigation agency.

Ha Tinh Provincial Police said that the five suspects were involved in intentionally violating the law on investment and financial management, leading to waste in the use of nearly VND1,000 billion in investment capital in two projects of Ben Thuy Shipyard.

After leaving his position as Director of Ben Thuy Shipyard, Mr. Vu became General Director of Nam Trieu Corporation and was then appointed General Director of Vinashin. On August 30, Mr. Vu was sentenced to 11 years in prison by the Supreme People's Court in a case involving a series of senior officials of this corporation.
