Former President Donald Trump announced on September 12 that he will no longer debate Vice President Kamala Harris, extinguishing the possibility of a second debate between the two candidates before Election Day.

“There will be no third debate,” Mr. Trump said at the end of a lengthy post on his Truth Social account. “When a boxer loses, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I want a rematch,’” Mr. Trump wrote, claiming he won the September 10 debate with Ms. Harris despite some polls suggesting otherwise.
Former President Trump argued that issues like inflation and immigration were discussed "in great detail" in his June debate with current President Biden, as well as in his September 10 night face-off with Harris.
The first presidential debate between Trump and incumbent President Biden ultimately resulted in Mr. Biden withdrawing from the race, agreeing to Ms. Harris to replace him as president.
Trump and Harris debated on September 10, their first meeting since Harris became the Democratic nominee in late July. A CNN snap poll found that 63% of debate watchers thought Harris won the September 10 debate, compared to 37% who said she didn't. Multiple polls released on September 12 showed Harris widening her lead over Trump nationally.
